Frequently Asked Questions about the 4ROTTE product line

What is the 4Rotte line and why was it created?

4Rotte is ARMATORE’s product line dedicated to showcasing Mediterranean fish species that are often overlooked or underestimated. It was created to give dignity and value to noble yet lesser-known fish, sustainably caught in our seas. A project that combines flavor, tradition, and awareness, bringing to the table authentic varieties such as mackerel, bonito, little tunny, frigate tuna, albacore, swordfish, and amberjack.

Where do the fish from Armatore’s 4ROTTE line come from?

All fish come exclusively from the Mediterranean Sea, FAO area 37, caught with full respect for seasonality and marine biodiversity.

How are the preserved fish processed?

Each fillet is carefully hand-selected and processed one by one, gently steamed or boiled, then preserved either in olive oil or in its natural state.

What is the difference between the various species (mackerel, bonito, little tunny, amberjack, albacore, swordfish)?

Each species has its own flavor, texture, and fat content. Mackerel is bolder, amberjack more delicate, bonito intense, albacore elegant, swordfish meaty, little tunny more rustic, and alletterato well-balanced. The belly (ventresca) is the finest and most tender cut.

What is the difference between fish preserved in olive oil and natural style?

Fillets in olive oil are richer in flavor and preserved in pure olive oil. Natural style fillets keep a lighter taste and are ideal for those following a low-fat diet.

What type of oil does ARMATORE use?

We use only high-quality olive oil, which enhances the flavor of the fish without overpowering it.

How can these fillets be used in cooking?

They are ready to use: perfect for salads, pasta, gourmet sandwiches, appetizers, or as a quick and healthy main course.

Do ARMATORE products contain preservatives?

No, all ARMATORE products are completely natural and free from preservatives, colorings, or artificial additives.

How long do the products last once opened?

After opening, they should be stored in the refrigerator, fully covered with their own oil or liquid, and consumed within 3–4 days.
